...unless you're someone like Amazon or Nike, in which case he confiscates nothing.

and Tesla and hundreds of other companies that can use the tax code to their advantage. If we can't innovate, hire the right people and grow our businesses we can't blame uncle Sam for our disadvantages. The current tax code is designed to encourage the risk-takers and reward the best in any business, don't you think?

If you're an owner-operator you already took that risk, and nobody forced you to do this. The megas on the other hand take advantage of the risk-takers and lease their equipment with barely any risk to themselves and obvious benefits. I never leased my equipment as I want more control of my operation and run under my own signs - why should I take risks and benefit a third company (besides government, banks, and insurance companies).

No. It's designed so the CEO and board of directors can take as much money as they want, as long as they spend some part of it on lobbyists.

And we're (the people) free not to patronize these businesses for their shady practices, aren't we? But you're right and this past election has shown us your point. Too many people are either ignorant to realize it or too dependent on the government though, but this is a side effect of capitalism within a global economy. Countries are just like corporations competing on the global level and governments, as well as corporations, get bigger as the citizens (people like us) get smaller. And the media is not doing its part to educate citizens as its dependent on the governments and corporations.

People who want to learn will learn regardless of the media. Those who don't, won't.

You can go to SD and get paid 30% less in order to avoid the 9% tax.
