I’m sure you could come buy up a bunch of the “unlimited land” in Midwest and build truck parking. That seems like a profitable venture given what land is going for these days. If you’re worried about driverless trucks taking your job then all that says is that you’re in a segment of the industry where it’s possible for autonomous trucks to replace you. And if enough people think now is the time to buy a truck because rates are high then it won’t be long and the rates will drop back down from a saturated market. It is what always happens.

 

Complaining about parking in the Midwest?
I loved the Great Lakes Region, which is Midwest, mostly because of how easy it is to find parking compared to east or west or south.

 

Just stay where you are at. Unless you want an OO adventure. So 12.5k a month is very good at a company level. Maximize 401k , set up Roth IRA. The rest I don't know. These booms last 18 months. Then
taper off. In 5 months freightliner will add a third shift to make trucks.

 

I'm doing my part every day here to actively discourage drivers from making that leap but they don't listen. Great spot rates never last. The smart operators now are the ones knocking on doors & locking down stable, direct contract freight. Long term in trucking that's the winning play.
