That particular ramp can be very deceptive. It's posted at 35, I believe, and there's a digital readout of your speed as you approach the curve.

The curve tightens up, and you can't see around it either. In addition, the two lanes become one at the end of the ramp, so 4-wheelers are often hustling to get around the big trucks. There are an awful lot of scars on the road and barriers. Still, hauling the coils means you've got to slow down to even below the posted speed.

This ramp is right outside our Charlotte operating center.

There's going to be one hell of a memo going out to BB drivers!

Not only that, but those steel coils are HEAVY!!! Even when chained properly, there is a HUGE risk of them shifting, especially on tight curves.

There are many places you don't want to get in a hurry in a truck but the two that stand out the most are, steep grades and sharp curves. Throw in a mega-top-heavy coil and the risk is even greater. Be careful drivers! I wonder if they loaded at the same plant?

...or were trained by the same trainer?

Either way, I'm glad they weren't hurt.

Thats right! Coils should be left for the professionals to haul.
