For you old-timers, what was the typical turbo pressure, say, thirty years ago, and what is it for today's engines?

30 years wasn't THAT long ago. Of course, the truck I had then didn't have a turbo on it, though most new trucks built then had them. I just couldn't afford a newer truck.

Used to run a 95 KW W900L. Had an old 60 series 500 Detroit. No wastegate. Boost pressure would go up over 60 psi (factory boost gauge). Turbo was screaming loud!

    No way a DD60 500 with stock block/head would take 60 psi.gauge was wrong.
