I have been driving for 35 years.
As I wind down my career I've started driving for a dedicated Fleet Comma but they've cut my Routes back And giving it to new hires I think I would just Take it Period But when I get down to 600 miles a week and I can't pay my bills it's time to move on.
I will tell you I was quite surprised when a number of companies I applied with turn me down. I have a spotless record and they clean MVR.
They all told me the insurance was turning me down. But I finally got one to tell me why.
I renewed my CDL last year and a lot of these insurance companies will automatically reject a CDL that is less than 2 years old regardless of the reason.
So for the very next company I applied with I included my old CDL which my wife kept and was hired on the spot.
So if you're getting turned down by companies due to insurance reasons it might be because your CDL is too new

I’m guessing the OP let the first one expire, then had to go get the current one?
I dunno. -
I had a broker's clerk who kept doing just that, questioning every CDL recently renewed.
Started shipping her a copy of their employment history with the MVR request.77fib77 Thanks this. -
2 CDLs?
-
Probably only looked at the issue date on the new or renewed license, nothing else.
-
I have an expired CDL also and the DMV punched some holes in it so it cannot be used again. I carry both my new CDL and my expired CDL in my wallet just for the heck of it. That's not illegal.
The lady at the DMV asked me if I want to keep the expired CDL or not. I said yes I want to keep it, so she punched some holes in it and handed it back to me. -
Sounds like there’s more to the story, jus sayin?
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
The mvr USED to say when commercial was obtained.
Now it just says issuing date. For the current license.
I don't know how they find out the original date that would indicate how long it's been a commercial license.
Is there some other source being used now?tscottme Thanks this. -
Just a thought. Some employers use the “the Insurance didn’t approve you.“ As a way of telling you, they do not want to hire you.
gentleroger, Bean Jr., Speedy356 and 3 others Thank this.
