Two dead in fiery South Side accident on I-35

"San Antonio Police Department Sgt. Roy Miller said it appears the driver hit the brakes at about 8 p.m. while on Interstate 35 just before Loop 410.

As the car came to a near complete stop, a FedEx tractor-trailer traveling behind rear-ended the car and pushed it to the side, Miller said."

"Miller said investigators think the driver may have hit the brakes because he was about to miss their exit at 145A."

Always amazed me. How and why 4 wheelers think it is appropriate to come to a complete stop on a freeway. Then to have others that follow suit. As opposed to leaving enough room, do a lane change, drive slower and defensively. AND not come to a complete stop on the freeway! EVER!

Darwin’s theory is working hard and off to a rolling start this year.
We seriously need to get “back to the basics” on driver education. These types of accidents are getting out of control.

While I am usually all for laughing at a FedEx wreck, the car should be partially at fault for coming to a near stop on an interstate.

    Darwin's theory indeed.

I think this comes from the LACK of driver ed requirement. I've noticed that people taught by non-driver ed instructor (usually a family member, relative or friend) tend to drive either more recklessly or, have trouble reading traffic flow.

I remember when I took my drivers ed...The instructor was ADAMANT that I read out ALOUD the names of the streets, or random businesses along the way. At first I was resistant, then he told me: You might be looking for an address one day, while driving, and your brain needs to process all the incoming info.

Another thing he taught me: There's always an exit ahead, you miss this one, grab the next one....
