Usually those jobs pay pretty decent and most certainly local. You might have to do it the old fasion way and go knock on some doors.. I don't mean to presume or be a jerk here. However, if your lifestyle needs are that high, maybe you need to be looking for a different career path......or a lifestyle change.

I do but I already have a job lined up but they, just like every other carrier I’ve applied to recently and in the past, want me on board ASAP. These spots fill up fast and if I tell my current employer I need two weeks, for one, my position might get filled, and secondly, this carrier is something else. They will do everything in their power to get me to stay except for what I need, which is to get paid more. And two weeks with my coworkers will also be tough as I feel like I’m screwing them over. I’m not a pushover by any means but I’m very empathetic and that alone might convince me to stay, even though it would be detrimental in the long run.
I gave this company years of good service, time to move on

I had my best driving experiences working for a CDL Temp agency for over 3 years, only left due to a slowdown in 2008. I got to check out most of the big companies by temping for them and some unknowns, oh and you get to drive stuff you usually wouldn't.

Sounds like the job is draining. When you don’t want to be somewhere mentally is when your likely to make a mistake and put your CDL in jeopardy. They’ll fire you without notice in a heartbeat. Say goodbye to new local job. Our job is to handle 80k lbs of destruction around others we as drivers need to have mental clarity. This isn’t a office job where it’s easy to put a 2 week notice in and putter around work. F the 2 week notice IMO.

I gave my last two employers one week notice. They both were pissed. It was because of the health insurance policy at the new job. Your have to work the complete month for it to start the following month. I was not going to go 7 weeks without insurance for their benefit. Of course they were short drivers but they’ve been short for years.

Yea it’s a real PIA. Last year I went to work for my local water district. Ten minutes from home normal hours etc. My employer of eight years refused to verify my employment. I finally had my direct supervisor, whose a real good guy, sign the verification form for me. The new job was as it seemed a very desirable job and somehow I got selected out of a large pool of applicants. So needless to say, there was no time for a two week notice.

Fast forward a few months and the new job didn’t work out as I was a large part of a hiring process to replace a bunch of drivers retiring. They were hiring enough drivers to do away with overtime. So yes even the Government pinches pennies like that. The previous employer welcomed me back. Switching jobs in this industry is a pain sometimes.

While I have always had the luxury of 2 weeks, if I were unhappy I would give less if that gets me out of there. My happiness is higher on the list than theirs.
