“Extremely high marbling in US beef, often found in USDA Prime or Wagyu-cross grades, can feel too rich, heavy, or greasy for a standard-sized meal. While marbling adds flavor and juiciness, excess fat can overwhelm the palate, cost more, and deliver high amounts of calories and saturated fat.“

Hmm, interesting,,why just t'other day, whilst cleaning my wallet at Walletmart, I thought maybe some meat. GOTT IM HIMMEL,,,how much? The cheapest package was $20! For some crap, but I heard, you are better off with a steak or cut meat than ground beef. GM CHRYSLER, I wouldn't eat a hamburger( for $17 ) and I didn't buy any. So I said to the brain dead cashier, have you seen the price of meat? Duh,,,, anyway, our little town has a meat locker/butcher, been here for a long time. They had the best ground beef, it was local stuff, slaughtered on site. All of a sudden, a major recall of their ground beef, never before happened. What was the deal? They were buying meat from Timbuktu,,no sir, no more burgers for me.
So what are we gaining here? Farms and trucks, for that matter, are forced to pass costs along to the consumer, and are adjusting the prices to counteract the loss of sales. It's a spiral we can't pull out of, and we haven't seen the half of it,,,let's watch,,,

We get grass fed beef from a local producer. Buy a Quarter around every 3 to 4 months, which is plenty for the two of us. I hope we never have to go back to buying beef at the store.

My younger brother has been a butcher at a slaughter house for 24+ years. During a text conversation about meat this is what he had to say, makes you think about what we are eating.

Years ago before my trucking days, we drilled (3) 10” wells for a big company called International Filler. They used the wells to cool the ball mills in the plant.

We ask one day why a bulk tanker was parked out back by a loading area, Donavan the superintendent told us it was being loaded with paper products that had been ground into powder. When asked what it was used for his response was…. They use it as filler with flour to make bread. Never know what we are truly eating sometimes….

Kroger stores and Kroger stores under different names, will short the weight on meat. For example, a package shows 3 pounds, but might actually weigh 2.5 pounds.
I've read Walmart, Sam's Club, Costsco do the same.

I've hauled many loads of flour in dry bulk trailers. Have to get the pressure just right while unloading. A little too low and a hose will plug, either on the truck or inside the plant you're delivering to. A little too high and it will dust the inside of the plant and if that happens someone will come running out to the truck waving their arms and swearing like crazy.

Never hauled flour, but did years ago haul magnetite into the mines. It’s done dirty stuff if you get it plugged up…!

I hauled flour to various places, but mostly to Bisquick in Kansas City. Tanker work is so easy as you know.
Haul some interesting loads. Glue used for micro-wave popcorn bags.
Phosphoric acid to a place in West Palm Beach that makes Summers Eve products.

it's what gives it the best flavor and YES it's FAT!!:eek::rolleyes:

your body cannot live on a totally fat free diet. it requires fat.

learned that years ago when rabbits were invasive in Australia and people were only eating them as they were so plentiful, rabbits are fat free and you can't live on rabbits alone.

oh and not quite 80, 73 next month.:cool:

Dang, you're a relic! Anyway, I've started practicing the Japanese Walk. That is the reason Japanese live so long and remain healthy with no mobility problems. It keeps the joints healthy.
I've been practicing it on the patio and going to the mailbox for now. Later, I'll do it during evening exercise walks. I don't give a crap if anyone stares and snickers; it's my health, not theirs.
