Wisconsin police say that they arrested a semi truck driver this week after he made an unusual 911 call.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. on Friday, May 24, in Racine County, Wisconsin, according to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say that they responded to a call from tractor trailer driver Shayne S. Dewitt on an I-94 exit ramp. Dewitt reportedly told 911 dispatchers that he had heard “voices in the walls of his semi-tractor.”

Police initially believed that Dewitt was suffering from a mental health issue, but when “deputies searched the interior of the vehicle, they found the driver had open intoxicants, drugs, and paraphernalia in the vehicle. Deputies performed standardized field sobriety testing on the driver, and it was determined his ability to safely operate the vehicle was impaired.”

Dewitt was arrested and charged with his fourth felony OWI, felony operating with a restricted controlled substance 4th, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and open intoxicants. Police say that Dewitt was also charged with three counts of bail jumping as he is out on bond for retail theft out of Outagamie County.
