What causes tire wear like this on trailer? I had trailer aligned last year. There's sort of like bump wear spots on the tire and shoulders aren't wearing evenly

It's hard to tell from the pictures. If your getting inside tire wear on all for inside tires that is generally axle flex and can be fixed by welding angle iron on the top of the axle.

    What do you mean?
I had alignment done before tires and now they're not wearing evenly-feather wear

I have some tires with wobbly looking wear on the shoulders.

Some on truck steers and some on trailers.

I do the tire changing for the fleet but have not figured out what causes this wear either.

So far I just keep driving.

I’ve noticed that different brands of tires wear differently too on the same vehicles.

Sometimes constant uneven or rough road driving will cause tires to wear funny.

Driver side steer will wear perfectly but often times I see the passenger steer wear funny.

    Have you replaced your shocks?
I use True Balance centering pins to center the brake drums and the wheels to the studs, plus I also use Counter Act balancing beads for a nice smooth balanced ride. You would be surprised what an uncentered brake drum will do. Of course always make sure tires are at proper PSI - Auto inflation systems are genius in my humble opinion and a great time saver

If it's on the steer and your brake drums are centered like mentioned above and your alignment has been set, then you may have an underlying problem like wheel bearings, wheel end play, king pins, worn spring bushings etc

    Cabinover101:

I have thought of getting those centering tools.

For the heck of it I tried 3 feeler gauges on the blue freightliner truck I drive in a triangle pattern to see how much of a difference it makes with the wheels and drum close to center, man what a difference.

That made the smoothest ride and this is just the front tires.

I won’t use the feeler gauges again as the weight of the wheels pressing on the tools is extremely hard on them and not meant for that.

But they really showed what a difference that a properly centered wheel and brake drum makes.

I will consider getting wheel and drum centering tools.

Yeahh, can make a huge difference!! Another trick you can use if your brake drum is 'loose' and not still stuck to the hub, and your brakes have even wear :) You can release the brakes at full air pressure, adjust brakes down tight to help center the brake drum, then install wheels and properly tighten, then when done go back a properly readjust the brakes. That will help center the brake drum, but not the wheel of course. The centering pins are the way to go in my opinion. I have a video I should probably try to post so people can see the difference
