A lot of you have given me great advise since I joined this forum. And I thank you all for that. I felt it was about time for an update so here it comes.

I graduated CDL school on Saturday (8/24). The school was a small outfit in Kentucky. Older beaten up equipment and housing was less than comfortable. But it was all made up for by the top quality instructors there. They really had the best I ever hoped to meet. Wonderful people! The heat was dumbfounding tho. But hey thats life right!

Anyway now that I have made it past that I am now sitting in Carlisle Pa. I start orientation tomorrow and am eligible for dispatch Thursday, as soon as my trainer arrives. So if any of you are trainers for CRST I might just be on your truck this week.

Most of you were right tho. My recruiter did lie to me about pay and such. The great part is they dont tell you the truth until the very day you graduate. By then you are under pre-contract. Kinda too late by then. So I am pretty sure after my 8 months I am going to seek employment with an honest company.....if there are any of those left? Other than pay tho every thing my recruiter said was true. So I didnt get as many lies as some others have.

The only other eventful thing was the Corvette show in progress here in Carlisle. My motel (and every other one in town as well) is full of vettes, new and old alike. Vette clubs from all over. At least there are some pretty sights. And some of those pretty sights even drive the vettes!!

What company did you end up going with? Glad to hear things are going well, as for the pay business, that's just the way some companies operate. I would suggest you stick it out there a year if you can, before you thing about job hopping.
Otherwise, good luck on the road, and enjoy Carlisle while you can. I have only been to the swap meet once, but I had a great time. Lots of cool cars, lots of pretty ladies!

Thanks wallbanger. And you are right about the year. If I can pull 8 months, my contract period, whats the last 4?! I did go to CRST. Today was the drug test and road test, then just going over benefitss and comdata and such. Of course our class is already minus one guy. Guess he thought 7 AM start time meant whenever he felt good and ready to get up and get a ride over to the terminal. I know of at least one more that will be sent home tomorrow for failing the drug test.....what are these guys thinking??

Anyway so far I am loving it. Cant wait to hit the road with my trainer and learn some more.
