And the stars keep aligning. Engineer is happy for spacers between the spring and axle. Control arm to be welded by a certified welder, though I'm checking with pactax what 33 year old one on the shelf taking up warehouse space is worth.
The Alison manual arrived in the mail, perhaps the best $70 I have spent in a long time. This looks to provide the clarity required around what cables are needed for the rest of the installation, test and so on.

Well everyway everyday dirty ol K comes along..... or most days....hmm actually only some.
Finally secured the transmission, oil to water cooler, and duplicates of the 2 box of tricks required to make it all happen. Thought given I'm going back 30 years its wise to program things once and have redundancy on the shelf. That may extend to a second transmission yet as its stands, bit rare down hear. This hopeful beauty sure is an ugly duckling that only a owner could love. But this lump of engineering is worth gold to me. It has looms, the retarder actuator, mounts, ? plate that escapes me, and being an auto has a pretty good chance of being in VGC considering they don't self harm. The retarder is the key, a huge multi stage transmission brake that replaces gears. I picked up an Allison cooler that complements the retarder, but will still have to add and Air to Oil for my needs. Sending 42.5T down 16% decline generates a lot of heat. Control the heat you control the decline.
Got the previous owners tipper look returned to its OE glory of a tractor. I source the parts and the mechanic makes it all happen, think he did a pretty good job.
The new air ride suspension requires 100mm (4") of thickness made up now the 11 pack spring is no longer. Also looks like I will run with the OE upper and lower shock mounts, so I picked up 10mm there. In the mean time had these 90 x 140mm hardened steel blocks machined to replace the spring. My engineer preferred one big chuck of steel for less movement if any.
The AG130 springs also moved the axel forward which shortened the control arm 100mm. Paccar wanted $2200au for a size that was close but not right, and been sitting on the shelf for 30 years. Thankfully to an open minded engineer, $150 saw a certified welder cut it, pre heat it, inner and outer tig weld it, and job done. One correctly sized control arm that didn't cost dumb money. Hoping by weeks end will have suspension in and back on the ground.
Exsuspensionguy, Feedman and 1999 C12 Thank this.
