I thought ELD made us safer?
Yet I do see state road vehicle do stupid things all the time. Including not marking work zones with proper warning or pop up night work with no warning. Stuff is getting nutty professor goofy.

The article reads like the UPS truck caused this accident and maybe it happened like that, but then it could have been the fault of the Alabama state truck. Far too many times I have witnessed the construction trucks making very dangerous maneuvers in a construction zone. Also, and this occurs far too many times, when they close a lane and place cones down, the cones are placed too far over into the open lane and if you are not careful you will drop off on a soft shoulder and then you can kiss your rear bye, bye.

Whatever happened in this accident, the blame is going to be placed on the UPS truck. No matter what or who caused it.

While all that may be true, let's look at the records. UPS flying through construction zones vs. improperly set up construction zone.
I know which one I'd put my money down on....

I thought it perhaps was due to all the work in Birmingham, but it was near Anniston. RIP driver.

I had a state trooper a few years ago pull the side of the road before Mercedes Benz exit, west of Birmingham and it looked like he was going to pull back on the road. Same trip, AL, don't remember where off but before the rest area on 20/59, they were doing construction in the left lane this time, no warning, truck just there with an arrow pointing to the right. That section of the road was really busy with traffic and here you come up on this and no where to go fast. Scared the stew out of me because of the traffic and the speed. No telling what went on here with this accident, we may never know for certain.

    Bud A., Lepton1 and bigkev1115 Thank this.
