Moose is thinking of the 20th century which is different. You’re both correct

Well, to get to Romney, I took US 219 from Somerset to I-68(pretty good route). Then I-68 to US 220 south to Keyser WV(Again, a good route). From Keyser I took US 50 over to Romney...50 was a good route also. I hadnt left Romney yet. Ive had a good phone signal the whole way.

We will see how 50 east from here to Winchester is.

Actually as I wait to get loaded, im at ease. Guys said to take 50W to 220S to Moorefield. Then 48 east to VA 259 south to I-81. Said they do it all the time..... Thankfully there was another RGN here to load to let me know....

I tend to think of the 1900's as 1900-1909. The 0x years.

I wasn't a teamster on an Ox cart back then! Our trucks didn't have solid rubber tires nor were they chain drive. I drove a "Crackerbox" GMC with a high powered 238 Detroit diesel. No air conditioning, power steering or air ride suspension. We ran team averaging about 4000 miles a week. This was running the Eastern third of the U.S. before the interstate highways were completed. I retired 20 years ago at age 63. I really enjoyed my career as a driver.

I didnt go back that way. Another guy who loaded with me says its ok, there were a couple of sharp curves and hills on that way he said. Said he wouldnt want to do it loaded.

When I left Romney WV, I took 50W to 220 South to Moorefield WV. Then hopped on US48E(its all 4 lane) and took that to WV 259 which turns into VA 259....
Only hills were a 4 on the 4 lane(US48). WV/VA 259 you run through a valley and eventually cross over the mountains through a gap, so there were no mountains to pull going that way. US48 was beautiful!

I learned this route from a guy who lives in VA who was there. There was plenty of truck traffic the whole route.
