Hi. I just payed my way through trucking school and am looking for a job. I have an interview with US Express this friday. My first question is it a good company?

Also what kind of questions will be asked during the interview? I am a little nervous because I worked at the same dead-end retail job for the last 7 years of my life and never had any motivation until now. I also have a speeding ticket from last year. I would like to have answers to the questions he will most likely ask.

us express is like any other company, neither good, great or terrible.

the usual questions like any other job application/interview, so don't sweat it. just be truthful in your answers, without going into a song & dance routine.

Well the pay is very low at U.S. Express. They pay a "sliding" pay scale that starts too low, and gets lower (with longer length of haul). But other than the poor pay, they seem like they'd be an OK company to work for. If you think you can live on about $35K maximum per year, you might do OK at U.S. Express.

As for what questions, expect them to drill you about your work history and your driving record. Both are federal requirements, so they have to cover those areas. Be prepared to answer any and all questions relating to work and driving record for the past 10 years, minimum. Specifically, you need to know things like county (where the speeding ticket was issued), specific date you were found guilty (month won't do), exact amount of fine, exact charge (you know you were speeding, but is that the way it's listed on your motor vehicle record?). Also have -current- telephone numbers and street addresses for ALL employers, as you will need to provide those. If you were unemployed for any amount of time over ONE WEEK in the past ten years, you will need to provide names, addresses and telephone numbers of three people not related to you who can verify that you were unemployed. You might need these references, anyway.

    Good luck, -Dave

Thanks for the advise. It has come down to a decision between Schnider, US Express, Swift, and CR Engkland. I am leaning towards Schnider. The interview with US Express went pretty good. If I take that job orientation starts next Monday. But pay is low, and I want nice stuff. I
