First, we want miles, we need miles. Good truckers stay out several weeks at a time. We want to run. We don't want to sit. Some of us drive because we love it, others because they need a job, but all of us drive because we have bills to pay. Answering the phone more and kissing our butts doesn't get us miles. As a matter of fact, it gets us fewer miles. The runners don't want to talk on the phone or have their butt kissed, we want to run. If my dispatcher is on the phone it's usually with the crybaby that wants to go home every weekend or has some made up emergency that requires him to get home now. The only person I want my dispatcher on the phone with it the load planner so my dispatcher can chew him out for the lack of miles.
Second, unlike the driver who wants to go home every weekend, we want to go home every month or two. We will do whatever you need during that month or two but when it's time to get us home, get us home. We deliver your freight on time, we sit for hours waiting because load planners or customers screwed up, but then it's the day we are due home and you can't get us there or you do get us there and you want us to p/u another load. You have drivers due home every week, quit planning freight for 100% of your drivers when 20% are going home. That kind of math doesn't add up.
Third, your dispatchers get it, it's the rest of you who don't. I know, I know, there are all kinds of studies that say employees don't leave because of pay, they leave because of relationships. Wow, you actually believe that crap. If that were true then why wouldn't business just quit paying people and instead spend their work day telling them how wonderful they are and at then end of the week give them a paycheck with nothing but a smiley face on it. If drivers left companies because of relationship they would all leave USA Truck because the load planners and safety girls would rather screw a driver over than help one out. Tanya and Tiffany in safety are two of the meanest women I have ever met. And no, I have never had an accident.
It's not rocket science. Listen to your drivers and listen to your dispatchers. Get us miles and get us home on time. Or keep doing what you have been and keep losing 2000 drivers a year.

Tell usa to quit hiring drivers and you would get good miles. But then again they can't do that because they would'nt get subsidy. So I guess as long as you're there and the more you complain, you'll always receive low miles. So either quit or suck it up thats your choice, usa does not care and I imagine they would rather have you quit.
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
Well, I get more miles where I'm at now. Right now I'm averaging 2860 a week. I was only getting about 1600 miles with USA. Now, I'm off on weekends. I'm home after every shift. I know where my stores are. Maybe USA did me a favor. Because I didn't just jump into another trucking job after USA. Why continue? I shopped for several months. The truck I'm driving only has 64,000 miles on it. Ryder treats me well. The thing about Ryder though. They don't hire unless their is an opening somewhere. I think I'll hang out awhile.

Yeah, what Patty said, they rather have u quit... Why the heck r u still with USA? ..you have 22 yrs in the business don't ya?
pattyj Thanks this. -
Why would you even bring those points up in regards to a bottom feeder company? Do what so many others do and leave. There are plenty of good jobs out here and all you're doing is wasting your time and energy getting angry about it.
pattyj and airforcetoo Thank this. -
Yep,won't do a bit a good complaining about it.If anything that'll get you less miles then you're already receiving.
-
Yes, if you are not happy here, plz leave. I get plenty of miles but I'm sure someone else would enjoy your miles. Makes no sense to stay if you are not happy. I go home when I want, sometimes it 2 weeks, other times its 6 or 7. Just do your job as you should and everything works itself out.

Werner was the same exact way with me.I complained so much, they did'nt care.Company will not cater to the drivers. You say you're a good driver by staying out weeks.Well start having a no care attitude and see if that works.I can relate to exactly what the poster is saying. But with starter companies thats just how it is now and always ill be.
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
