I worked for them for a few years. What would you like to know?

 

you could do worse!! like c.r. england or swift. however you should have given roehl transport a serious look before you jumped. they are a great company to start off with. good pay for a trainee!! best of luck to you.

Since you already jumped I hope you have a good experience. There will always be people who hated working at every company. There will also be people who like working at each company. If you manage your expectations you can be happy at most companies.

First: Don't plan on being home as often as you may want to be. Look at weekends away from home as opportunities to earn more money.

Second: When you have a bad week it isn't always the companies fault. The movement of freight is a very unpredictable business. Remember that the next week can't be any worse.

Third: Remember that how you plan things will affect your outcome. If you are going to be early ask your dispatcher if they could make your appointment earlier. Don't waste time on your 14 hour clock waiting if that can be avoided.

It all depends on your outlook. If you expect to be disapointed you probably will be. If you plan on making the best of everything you probably will. Success is a mindset, not a guarantee. Good luck.

According to your other post you've been there for 6 months..........I also advised you on USA Trucks safety issues................

I recall in the 1990's maybe the early 2000's a whole fleet of USA drivers who didn't recieve a paycheck.

 

I'll give you another reason to possibly put any decision on hold to go to work for USA Truck. They are a takeover target at the moment, and one attempt failed just this week.

A California company, Liberate Technologies, offered $21 a share to buy them out. Apparently Liberate Technologies already owns a 5% stake in them.

My personal opinion? Someone will buy them eventually, unless USA Truck, Inc. takes themselves private.

Liberate Technologies is beginning to look like a company that is in the liquidation business. They sold their own assets at a profit a year ago.

you are right on the money!!! I don't know if it's true or not but i hear SWIFT is also looking at USA truck. geeeeeeezz i'm glad i don't work there!!!!

One thing is a sure bet. Whoever scrapes them up will not be good news for the current employees. And if Swift is the one, the law of averages is that at least half of the fleet will quit in the first three months, which is nothing new for Swift, so USA Truck may be right up their alley.

 

I started with usa in may, the first 3 months I averaged about 1700 miles a week. it was horrible. but i kept my mouth shut and took it and did my best for that time period, then finally had a heated conversation with my dispatcher. after that, my miles picked up dramatically. I currently average about 2900 miles, so it got better. They are my first company, having sponsored me thru c1, so I expected my first year to be low pay and bad miles. It has gotton much better though, after that first 3 months. They give 1 day off for every week otr, but i learned that if Im on the road for 5 weeks, I really cant afford 5 days off at home. celadon offers 1000 dollars and 1 week off after every 30,000 miles, I'll probably go there after my 1 year obligation is finished with usa truck. good luck.

 

My brother drove for them for a while. He had 2 flat tires in Oklahoma City. They told him they had a "credit flow interruption" and he'd have to pay for the tires. They'd been screwing him for a while. He told the dispatcher the truck would be idling and unlocked at the TA, come and get it. Started working as a diesel mechanic, never looked back
