hi
I’m a California resident. I m going to buy a 53 feet dry van from Washington state and gonna bring it to ca.
I know if we buy from dealer they’ll give you temporary plates so you can bring it to your home.
But I’m buying from a direct owner operator so I don’t know how I bring it to ca ?
Do I need to get it registered first in Ca and get plates to wa or is there any other way ?
Need your help friends

Buy a cheap one from a dealer and move really quick before the temps expire.
Probably won't work for lots of reasons but heh, you could try!
Also, can you get a regular 53' dry van where you are moving from and to? Most people can't.Benny2424 Thanks this. -
You go buy it, you hook it up to the truck, do a pre-trip and being it home.
That's all.
I just moved two reefers from Texas to Indiana without being plated, I had the drivers carry the bill of sale and that's all they needed. One got inspected in Alabama and the other in Kentucky, the cops didn't even bring the issue up.Liquidforce, Benny2424 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Yeah worst scenario is you buy a permit at POE each state you travel thru. (if caught)

It isn't the prime mover nor being used with a load on it, right?spyder7723 Thanks this. -
If the POE person asked for truck/trailer registration, what then ? He would not be able to produce anything for the trailer.

Bill of sale is all that's needed to pull an mt trailer.
I pulled a used gas tanker from Maine to Utah and 3 flatbeds from Arkansas to Montana with nothing but the papers.
Might be different with Washington, Oregon, and California though.
