Companies want your used oil, it gets recycled and then sold as new oil again. So you shouldn't have to pay for them to get something they want. In BC Canada anyplace that sells oil must take used oil as well, and free of charge, it is a law. If the grocery store sells it for example, they have to accept used oil you want to drop off, regardless of where you purchased it, and free of charge. The same goes with batteries, and tires, if they sell them, they have to accept your used ones. But for me its easier to have Mohawk come to me and collect it, plus as I mentioned they give me windshield washer fluid I need anyway for free.

Somehow. I don't see gas stations and grocery stores taking used oil.

A few years back, a lot of bigger companies put in filter systems and mixed the used oil in their big fuel tanks to burn it, that practice was pretty short lived on every one I knew about.

I have a Clean Burn waste oil heater in our farm shop. Am closing the shop and getting rid of it. Has a 300 gallon work bench tank that was full. Called a local waste oil recycler, they came the next day and took it all,no charge. They said sometimes they will pay,but they had a surplus now,I was just happy to get rid of it.
And yeah,in the old days,we sprayed it on all the dirt roads everywhere.brian991219 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
Back in the day when I was driving my Powerstroke 6. Oh No, I added used oil to my fuel all the time. But those 6.0s had HEUI fuel injection, a completely different animal. I think adding that oil was the one thing that made that truck run as well as it did; that and about $7K of aftermarket parts.
