OK when you get one year experience. I'm an owner operator with ups freight I'll give you a job running team with me and pay 40 cent split. That's 12 to 14 hundred a week and you can drive daylight hours only because I drive at night. Two weeks out one week off. I have volvo 780 with ultrashift. My name is Tim I live in Florida my number is 843 450 1767.

I would NOT go with any of these outfits until I tried Conway/XPO. NO BS. They have a school, they pay better, and they're actually an honest company, they pay and do what they tell you in recruiting. Honest.

I couldn't get on with Conway out of my refresher school, so I went in with Swift. I didn't have any problems that I couldn't handle. I will say, if Swift trailers are in better shape than anybody else's, those must be some pretty beat out boxes. I thought the Swift drivers were often low life people, I thought the driver managers were often really negative and sour, and I thought the pay was low. But I didn't have a track record, their terminal was 1/2 hour from my home, and they were willing to put me in a truck and provide me opportunity - to earn and learn, and that's what I was there for. The rest? It was over in 13 months, went to Conway, my driving life got a lot better right away.
I'm serious, take a serious look at Conway/XPO. I've been there 3+ years, company driver and I/C, 3 year average miles 2,800/week (I'm home quite a bit, worked 265 last year, home 100 days still averaged 2,800/week)
I believe they start OTR drivers at $.36/mile, but I couldn't tell you if that's for experience or right out of the box. Check 'em out, they're a good trucking company. Operative words? "Trucking company."Steel Dragon, Terence Whitfield and Chinatown Thank this. -
This is a good comment, alghazi. Any BS with the money and it's crunch time. That's the most unforgivable item on the list, IMHO.

Do you have W-2 Forms from previous work. Some companies accept this as proof of employment.
Try these companies:
Jim Strimbu Inc. - Brookfield,OH - this company hires newbies and even has their own cdl school. Probably make more money in their reefer division because they have longer runs.
Dutch Maid Logistics - in Willard,OH. Hires new cdl grads.
NTB Trucking
Abilene Motor Express
JRayL
Magnum Ltd.
Freymiller
Danny Herman Trucking
Don Hummer Trucking
TransAm
PI&I Motor Express
Navajo Express
USA Truck
May Trucking Company
Paschall Truck Lines
I recommend submitting online applications to all these, then follow with a phone call in 24-48 hours.
@Terence Whitfield try these plus XPO that @Starboyjim mentioned plus Tyson Foods. Tyson turned the trucks up a little to 66 mph.Last edited: May 5, 2016

Id like a terminal in Ohio.,hate the grey dog..with a passion. -
Sucks having to clean out your truck,in some state 2000 miles away...probably wont send him anywhere near home.
Most companies have been offering me 40-42 cpm,for my experience,of one year.
I spent last year making 34.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
A dry-van company in Ohio that hauls corrugated (based in Chicago, but local terminals) is Fab Express. Small-ish family owned company, good pay, bennies, and local / regional. You may get in with one year experience; wouldn't hurt to check out their website.
Wish ya luck, guys~NavigatorWife and Terence Whitfield Thank this. -
Did you get your license or not? Sounds to me like the issue with the trainer and his hygiene is YOUR deciding factor about US Xpress.
Sorry teenager that you are having such a hard time getting going. You have lowered yourself to being just another let me try this for today and if it doesn't work out for me the way I want it, than I am going to quit and in the process, tell others how bad it is driver.
I've been a driver for 20 plus years . You weren't around when Arrow shut it's doors and drivers lost their jobs in the blink of an eye. You haven't experienced the truly bad like driving for a company where 6 drivers went through a scale house in Lamar, Colorado and were all shut down and the DOT people decide to stop every truck from that company who were legal and hold them up, giving them the third degree.
You haven't experienced being in a toll booth with a tractor and trailer catching fire in booth next to you, so don't tell us how bad life is for you.
Here is a newsflash for you. US Xpress is not perfect but it's better than many. Your at your first company and your quitting, probably thinking, " I have my license, I can go anywhere", it's not that easy. What are you going to tell another company??? My trainer had bad body odor, I didn't get any miles, I didn't like this, didn't like that, had no choice but to leave", any recruiter that actually is a real recruiter, who is looking to hire real drivers and isn't interested in just filling seats and there are many like this, not all, but many, isn't going to give you the time of day.
Your an inexperienced driver, how many options do you really think you have? perhaps you need to leave and try CRST, I hear they overlook whiners, because that's all they cater to.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -
Just another heads up. These are threads that haven't been active in a couple months.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
