They are completely different cellular systems and are not interchangeable. If you know someone with a rooted version on VZW, that will tell you if its a "restriction". The device makers are in a much stronger position to keep the carriers from screwing up their phones like they used to. You can thank Apple for that. I do wish Apple would build a CDMA iPhone that allows data when talking on the phone.
