As of July 1st if you get caught holding up/impeding traffic in the left lane in Virginia you could be ticketed with a $100.00 fine+court cost, now lets see if it's going to be enforced.

Y'all won't be the FIRST state to enact that law; maybe you'll be the first to enforce it....?!? Time will tell, huh? ;)

They already have signs that been up for years saying commercial vehicles operated below 65 prohibited in the left lane. There s never been troopers around to catch it when it happens

Texas has had this for a few years. Even if you're going the speed limit and no one is behind you you can be ticketed for impeding traffic. If you see a white sign with black lettering its as mandatory as a speed limit sign. You can be ticketed for impeding traffic if you ignore "keep right except to pass " .

However, the chances of these being enforced are right up there with the motor vehicle code regarding entering a limited access roadway. That would be nil.

For the past two years the state has been looking for revenue wherever possible especially in traffic tickets. They will enforce it even if unjustified. Be especially careful on 95 N crossing from NC to VA.

My Stupid Son in law. Has gotten 3 tickets for riding in the hammer lane. 2 of them in Tn, other one in ms. I laugh at him over it. And this is in his Fast Mustang. All three times, the fool was cruising in the left lane at 5 MPH under the limit. And a trooper got behind him. And hes stupid enough to think there going to pass him on the right...
He then got a warning last week in AL for the same thing. That officer told him he would have gotten a ticket. But seen one more he would not be driving in any lane. So hope that stops him from being a STUPID left lane driver.

Guess his fast mustang isn't fast enough

Virginia has changed many of those do not use left lane below x speed to 70 mph now. They also have signs now that say over 80 mph is considered reckless driving and the penalty is higher.

That s funny getting a warning in AL for riding in the left lane under the speed limit. 80% of Alabamians ride in the left lane running 10 mph or more under posted speed limit. Now other states that come through AL, especially if they have a GA, FL,NC, SC, MS, or TX tag are even worse

    NavigatorWife and tnpete Thank this.
