The inverter in question is already in stalled, what do I need to look at to find out what I can plug into it with out hurting it or my items I want to buy. Example below.
In the 2014 cascadia I was driving. If I plugged my cooler into the charger port, it would blow a fuse almost every time. But I could use my little water boiler all day with no issues.
Bringing this up to some non wiring professional friends. They mentioned. I need to look at something. I'm just naturally assuming it may be the same?
Volts or wattage? Inverter question.

You need to know the max wattage of the inverter, and the max wattage of the appliance you want to run. Obviously the max wattage of the appliance must be less than the max wattage of the inverter.
amps x volts = watts.Tb0n3, truckdriver31 and feldsforever Thank this. -
Thank you. I didnt know that. I really thought it was plug and play.

Also items that have a motor in it, such as a refrigerator, need way more power to start the motor. The inverters peak wattage has to be able to handle it.
My fridge runs on less than 150 watts, but requires almost 1200 watts to start it. Some motor designs need 10 times the power.truckdriver31, feldsforever and stuckinthemud Thank this. -
use 117 volts x amps = watts. so if u use a 700 watt microwave. it would draw 5.9 amps. so when your looking at a inverter. try to find the amps then use formula above

see that full load 3.5 amps. thats 409 watts it uses. so a 1500 watt inverter will cover it

So the inverter watts has to be higher. Thanks every one who responded. It helped a lot and that picture drove it home. Gonna hit the interweb and see if o can find a hot plate. Will update later.
Thanks againtruckdriver31 Thanks this. -

I can't take a picture because of the angle. But reads as follows:
Freedom. HF
Phillips
40-fl10-590
15 amp
120 volt
1800 watt
