Check wiring to A-connector, battery power - usually pins A1 ore A9, wires 219/202, fuse F40, ign power - usually pin A3, fuse F24, wire 180.
check connector on fuse panel, from underneath, check fuses for reliable contact.
With pannel anscrewed and ign. on try to toch and move a bit wiring to locate bad wiring ore connectionjlawall Thanks this. -
If it's not loose wiring then the cluster itself is bad and they are about $2500 to replace
-
If I see wiring is OK, I disassembly instrumental cluster. Bad soldering inside is a usual fault. Resoldering usually helps -
what is the VIN ore dashboard #. What year is the of truck? There are six versions of dashboards so I may be wrong with pin numbers.
-
I've successfulley resolder the pins that connect from one side to the boards. They do fail from colder solder joints and new ones are $$$$.
-
I have just the opposite problem, main dash panel is fine, but I lost all the lighting to all the other switches, on an '07 780.
-
bad soldering is '07-09 issue. easrly Version-II trucks were more reliable.
Be especially carefull choosing trucks with EBS and I-shift. Volvo use BGA mounted processors and sometimes there are sildering problems, especially in points that vibrate, like transmission. -
Its a 2006 VNL 670. I pulled the instrument cluster fuse and it seemed fine. So i put it back in and the problem seems be gone, at least for now. Thanks for your help, I'll check the things your suggested if it pops back up again. -
on the Volvo vnl670 on the instrument cluster is there supposed to be a current through the 219 wires
