I have a 2012 Volvo 670 where there is a steering wheel noise at the wheel, coming from right behing the wheel. It's a scratchy / squeelie noise of some sort, while turning to the right or left. Dealer says it's normal. Normal? This noise is normal? What the heck are you talking about - normal? Anybody else have a steering wheel noise like this? Anything you have done to it? Thanks.

Yes, this is apparently "normal". It's noise from the power steering that comes up thru the steering column. There is no fix for this. My wife and I drive team, our last three tractors have done this. Volvo 780s, we mile them out at 200,000km.

just some harmonic noises from the steering box, normal.

I have 2007 780 that does this. I don't notice it going done the road, only when moving slow.

Mine does the same thing...sounds more like a plastic squeak from something rubbing. Usually just sitting there and moving the wheel just a quarter turn back and forth, it'll keep on doing it.

I owned a 2006 VT880 and it did the same thing, I just bought a 2012 630 this week, and on the drive to the shop to install the pump required it did the exact same thing.. I actually chuckled a bit, the 880 I had drove me/drivers nuts with the noise... 6 years later, different model etc, still does it. Guess its one of those things. I also have 2 W900 Kenworths, and my 2001 windshield leaks at the same spot as my 09 does.
