When connecting my phone to the OEM Volvo VNL radio it works just fine, however when trying to make a phone call, the other party does not hear me.
Is there a microphone standard in the OEM Volvo VNL radio or do I need to install an external microphone?
    Thank you.

Our Volvo's have the microphone on the overhead panel, I find if I talk up to it, it helps. But truthfully your better off just using a standard headset, the Volvo microphone works better than the Peterbilt's microphones we have that are mounted to the A-pillar, but you are still better off with a headset.

Use a headset. I'm sure there is a microphone already installed in the Volvo, but it won't sound very good.

It's not a bluetooth microphone per se. It's a microphone that connects to your phone using your trucks radio via bluetooth.

I know it sounds like the same thing but it's not. A bluetooth mic is a dedicated piece of equipment. This mic is actually wired to the radio. It's not bluetooth. The radio is, but not the mic itself.

And use a headset. Its going to sound like crap if you don't.

It was my experience that any bluetooth device I connected to the truck radio via the Aux-in jack always had much less volume than a wired connection to the Aux In jack of the truck radio.

That's going to depend on the device. I haven't found that to be the case at all. But experiences can vary.

    tscottme Thanks this.
