I drive a 2016 Auto transporter Volvo day cab. I noticed yesterday that nothing was coming out of the defrost or the dash outlets. I started turning the selector dial to change outlets but nothing happened.
Blower dial works just fine. I shut the truck down and did my 30 minute break. After I restarted the truck, there was no longer any problem. Does this mean the whole module is probably going to have to be replaced eventually or is there something else I can do to resolve this should it happen again?

You need to scan the truck and see if there are faults for the climate control system.
Otherwise I would wait and see if it acts up again.MooneyBravo Thanks this. -
In front of the passenger seat is where the heater and A/C is housed. Remove the panels and you will see the flaps for the hvac unit.
In front of the panel which houses the fues and below the 50 amp fuses is a sensor for the hvac. There is also one on the hvac case.
Some times fluff get on the sensor, gently remove fluff. Turn the selector to a setting and see what happens. Volvo price for the selector unit is stupid, aliexpress has them for sale much cheaper but as 24v which is the world norm. Since the is no motors in the unit I don't think there is a reason why it can not be used. BUT I can't find anyone who can tell me wether it is possible. Does anyone know? There is a wrecker in Terrae Haute In that you possibly get a used one if thats the issue.MooneyBravo Thanks this. -
Sounds more like a blower door/diverter motor failed or obstruction is jamming it, or like mentioned above a fuse went.
I had a part of one of the vents above fall off (the one that blocks off the vent) it fell down and jammed the flapper. Removed and worked fine.
I too wonder if the ones off aliexpress work. They do have 12v variants on ebay but they advertise them for the FM/FH series and don't specify the VNL/VT/VNH Etc.
I can't imagine volvo would use special units though for each series.
If I can't get an answer as to if they work or not by the end of today I'm going to go ahead and buy one and see if it works. If so I'll let you know.MooneyBravo Thanks this.
