I have a 1998 W900 and the exhaust pipe that runs under the truck and Y's out to the two stacks is rusted and as a about a 3 inch hole in it. I am sure if I pull it out I might find others or soon there will be anyway. Anyone else ever dealt with this and if so what did you find the best way to fix it?

Start at the turbo and just replace it all. You’ll be money and time ahead in the long run.
Bean Jr., Caterpillar Cowboy, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this. -
If your going keep the truck, what he said ^
Long FLD Thanks this. -
In the shop we go . . .
"Peel her off boys! 8" stacks, replace the lot from turbo to tip - and give her a wash and wax while you're there!"
Rates are good right now - no reason to skimp on required maintenance. -
Truck/pro sells the y pipe and all the flex pipe and a 6ft pipe you can cut to run all the way to 6in or even 8in stacks?

Rusted exhaust is the #1 tell tale sign that your muffler bearing isn't getting greased often enough!
Oldironfan, Roberts450 and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
This can’t be a serious question. Replace and upgrade the exhaust. Unless you were looking for moral support to use 2 dollar pep boys muffler wrap
Oldironfan Thanks this. -

Just an FYI, if you don't want to replace the flex pipe every 3 years, buy stainless not galvanize, I got mine on Amazon for cheaper than everyone else wanted for galvanize
Also, with the clamps, don't even think of reusing em, just grab your grinder and slice them off, you'll be time and frustration ahead
