Ive called WA representative and was told I will deduct any loads coming OUT of WA state and any loads that originate and end up delivering in WA state I will be paying tax, if my total taxable income for Public Utility taxes is $5,999.99 or less no tax is due.

There are days where i see a post like this and just want to scream. With less then 30 second search i found that only INTRAstate loads are taxed. ALL INTERstste loads are exempt!

I think you need to spend some time reading this! Here is directly from the Department of Revenue's website:

    Allowable deductions
Certain amounts may be deducted from the gross income reported under the public utility tax if the amount is included in the gross amounts reported. Deductions are allowed for the following:

Interstate hauls – Income from transporting persons or property by motor transportation equipment where either the origin or destination of the haul is outside the state of Washington.

Example: Furniture picked up by a transportation company in Portland, Oregon to be delivered to a warehouse in Seattle, Washington is an interstate haul and may be deducted from the gross income amount.

As I stated, intrastate loads only. And yes under 5,999.99 or less, PER QUARTER, no tax is due.

Some how i think we're all in the wrong business its time to become a government. Think about it, you can make up your very own rules and get away with it, and just take money off other people without being accused of any crimes seems like a pretty good racket huh?

    mitmaks and TGUNKEL Thank this.
