Can anyone tell me how long they typically wait to be dispatched? I am a new driver and I am curiose if some cities have longer dispatch times than others.

    Thanks.

Unless you are on a different continent and its late morning or midday, don't worry about it, go to sleep. :) Back on the topic, different cities matter in a different way to different companies.

My record is 5 days. But seriously, just call dispatch and see if anything is being worked on

I don't know who you work for but do they have people working on the weekend? If not, I'd find a nice truck stop and relax and contact them Monday morning first thing.

It all depends. Depends who you drive for. Depends on what division or fleet you drive for. Depends on the market you're in. Depends on the freight base your carrier might have in that market. Depends on how many trucks are ahead of you in your market. Depends on how many hours you have available. Depends on if you're needing/wanting a load home or in a particular direction. Depends on the general economy any particular month. Depends on if you were pre-planned or not. Depends if you UNloaded when you were expected to. So, you see, keeping ALL drivers happy and dispatching and load planning is not easy and the driver has to have a great deal of patience, more with some carriers than with others. Could be 2 minutes after you send in empty, could be 2 days, and anything in between. But THERE IS NO one single answer, and not even one typical average without knowing many more particulars about where you might end up and with whom and when.

My record was something on the order of 80 hours....

In a barb wire electric fenced place in Michigan!

27 hours in Florida and then ran empty 300 miles to North Florida for a load.
