Would love to know how fast the walmart driver was going. He must not have even seen the construction ahead.

If you were responsible for the death of someone's family member and someone in that family decided to sue the hell out of whomever was responsible, (you), how much could they expect to receive from you? Could you cover the cost of whatever the goin' rate is for the loss of a family member caused by an inattentive Big truck truck driver?

    Enter opportunism.
More than likely sights would be aimed at deeper pockets located in the trousers of the insurance company that covers the Big truck truckin' company that a driver drives a Big truck for. No grieving family member would settle for any less than the most. But even the most isn't nearly enough to replace what was lost. Where does compensation for a loss end and revenge for a loss begin, and where does that end? When the proceeds from the loss of a family member are spent on wanted, needed and/or necessary material things, would the reason for that ability and the material things themselves, - then affordable, - bring back fond memories of the lost family member, aka the reason, .....
Or would the material reminders of memories from the past still be painful to recall?

Again, if you were the driver responsible for the loss of someone's family member, how would that affect you? Is that something that could haunt you for a long time, if not forever? Would you feel grief? Sorrow? Regret? Repentance?
Would the family of the member lost receiving a mega-buck settlement erase any unpleasant memories of that fateful event and/or bring you any solace?

The incident that brought about this discussion will possibly culminate in criminal charges for the WallyWorld driver. Prison time is also a possibility, especially if a district attorney with aspirations of climbing the ladder of achievement recognizes the opportunity that the publicity generated, --- because a popular entertainer was injured seriously in the mishap with a Big truck, --- could be the career boost desired to advance an agenda. A guilty verdict would be a feather in the cap of a prosecutor.

A life was tragically lost in the crash. The lives of the survivors have been affected. The life of the WallyWorld driver will never be the same, nor will the lives of his family. There'll be suffering on both sides of the fence.
Definitely not a pretty picture on either side.
    Empathy?
    Hopefully.

Another angle to this is...Walmart hit a vehicle with someone who is very famous and has deep pockets...Walmart will pay big for this..how much is anyone's guess.

Famous people or even pretty blue eyed blond people bring a lot more media attention than just an average ugly duckling. More media = more money.

I was watching the news, and Walmart said they would take full responsibility for the accident. They have deep pockets.
