I'm curious why you say stay away from the Loveland DC? My husband has been there for almost 5 yrs has his own truck, preferred schedule and makes great money. The cost of living is high in the area, but you can live in WY for about an hour commute and have no state income tax. I'm just curious what the outside perspective is.

As a CA driver, I too recommend avoiding the left coast. Cost of living is ridiculous here. Not to mention traffic and the 48 billion people that live here. Our own saving grace is the nice weather. And In-n-out burger. The DC's in and around NorCal are nice and you stay busy, but yea...you'll need every penny you earn just to survive here.

It's been my experience that Florida is a dead zone and #### hole when it comes to trucking, and I say that as a native that loves my home state. Not to mention that while it's generally cheaper to live than the Northeast, the rents and the availability of rentals are ridiculous there.

You may not have considered it, but Texas is a really nice place to live, has low taxes, and is at the center of the trucking world. You should look for opportunities in Texas if it peaks your interest.

Florida isn't a dead zone for Walmart drivers because there's 5 Walmart DC's there.
I've lived in Florida and trucking is good there for reefer drivers.

I see, I received bad information I suppose. I'd been told that most of the Walmart positions around Florida had been sourced out to mega carriers.

If you live in CO or surrounding areas, if you have family there, if you like it there, then, it is ok. I was giving advice to someone who is willing to move anywhere, I think the other locations are better than Loveland or California. I dislike I80 in Wyoming in winter, that's all, I do it if I have to but I don't like it.

Someone posted this: Alachua Macclenny and Brooksville are staffed by the private fleet.
So that must mean the other 3 are staffed by Walmart drivers which are these :

I'm assuming you mean you are looking for places also in the Southern U.S., other than Florida?

Oklahoma has 2 DC's. Pauls Valley and Ochelata. Cost of living is very reasonable in both places, they are located in small towns. Oklahoma City is just an hour north of Pauls Valley and Dallas/Ft.Worth are just a couple of hours south. Ochelata is a couple of hours south of Wichita, 3 hrs south of K.C. and 30 mins north of Tulsa.

Pretty laid back area's, both of them. I drove dedicated WM for Crete out of the Ochelata DC, easy peasy, lots of 2 lane wide open country driving and even at their worse times Tulsa, Wichita and Joplin were cake too.

    Good luck whatever you decide!
