Yeah, drivers not connecting that you cannot communicate to any other driver on the road with your cell phone… I’m pretty sure no one has another driver’s cell number. That’s precisely why the major 100 plus pileup on I-40 eastbound in Oklahoma several years back! Fog and no communication from trucks going the other way, nor with any ahead that were at a dead stop blocking both lanes along with multiple 4 wheelers. We all saw the video footage of semi trucks veering off road to attempt missing stopped vehicles blocking both lanes, only to crash into other vehicles that also took the shoulder and ravine… it was a disaster that could have been prevented from truck involvement had they been utilizing practically the most safest and quickest tool that every truck should be equipped!!!
THE CB Radio.
And there are still to this date Apr 2023 massive pileups that trucks would not have any involvement if the drivers kept communication open between each other by word of mouth “real time” with cb radios.
In adverse weather conditions without your cb radio you might as well just close your eyes and drive… cause you are definitely driving blind!!! -
You can slow to a crawl and still that truck has the ability to take a life on impact!!!
Whereas, your ability to communicate by word of mouth “real time” with a cb radio doesn’t even place you anywhere near the stopped traffic ahead, or any other situation that is life threatening, injurious, or damaging… because your fellow trucker hollered at cha ahead of time and you responded professionally, just maybe preventing death, injury, or damage. -

The day I NEED a CB to be safe, is the day I quit driving.
I've been driving my whole life in ice and snow....50 years worth. And not once have I ever felt the need to have someone else tell me what speed I should be going for the conditions.Old_n_gray, Opus and Coover Thank this. -
And what about your fellow driver that doesn’t have your experience… you could be the one hollerin at him, know? -
If a driver doesn't have enough (or any) common sense to realize they're going too fast for conditions, they're going to need more than a fellow driver hollerin at them to be wary. Perhaps a new profession?JoeyJunk Thanks this.
