There is no loading/unloading. Yes you sleep in the truck. 3000 miles is a good week. I usually hit at about 2700, each DC will vary a little, and I run hard, but you will usually get hung up somewhere and go on the clock a couple times a week. Or you will get a bunch of short stuff which will keep your miles down but usually boost your pay just a tad. I'm talking about a 5 1/2 day week here. Guys/gals its a good job, probably not the best but right up there close. They don't hire the loud mouth, foul mouth, know-it-all, done-it-all, gear jammin, pill poppin, thinks they're a comedian, world problem solver type of truck driver. You are well paid, operate completely legal, get decent benefits, and stay clean enough to where white shirts to work (and they supply the jeans too.) ?What more could you ask for?

Yea, that is what I meant to say, when I said "unloading it pays such and such" I meant really that the truck is loaded /unloaded by someone other than the driver. I don't know what all my son does to spend so much time, but he burns it all up, the whole 70 hours in 5 days. I know he called and said they get more miles out west.

I used to work 70+ hours a week when I was younger. Don't think I get 40 now. Maybe if you count drive time to and from work.

No, I haven't heard of that either. There is no doubt WM will one day go the way of Sears and Monkey Wards and all. It's changing, but I ain't selling my stock jus yet and wish I had a whole lot more!

Their wasva swift truck pulling a WM trailer in the median of a 4 lane on hwy 29 S. in AL. A driver came on the cb yelling "##### driver move." Another rang out, "#### Swift driver." I being me, driving my local farm haul rig yelled, "Hey, you guys stop being so mean to me I'm from Canada." Nothing.....

Well I have finished my week of orientation with my DC. On Monday I leave out with my mentor. It will be good to get behind the wheel and learn the paperwork and procedures at stores and such. I am very happy with my decision to work for Wal~mart and am thankful that they have hired me! This company respects us, treat us well, and rewarded well.

Congradulations, it is really a good company as far as truck drivers are concerned. I have a daughter that works there in produce and she has been there over a year and still on minimum wage and no insurance, but the truckers make good.

Yeah as far as the transportation and logistics side, pay is great and good. The stores do need some adjusting with their pay. I am sure the company is doing what they can to change that.
