Had a friend move from Texas to Georgia. Georgia wanted over $1000 just for him to get his Harley title changed over. My buddy moved back to Texas.

 

No state income tax in Tennesse, although we do have the highest sales tax in the country. I live less than a mile from the GA line and get to enjoy the benefits of no income tax in TN and low sales tax in GA.

Yes it is easier to find a job when you already live in the area.
Years ago I was trying to find a local job while driving OTR. It was a challenge to be able to make it for an interview. At the end I quit my OTR job and found a local job in couple weeks. It wasn't a great job, but it got my foot in the door. Finding a local job after that was easy.
If you have some savings just pack up and move. In today's environment you shouldn't have a problem finding a job home weekly or home every day.
