Well we were warned by the founding fathers that the only way this country would fail was from within. Depending on a persons perception it may have already fell.

Seems you should ve running as an scorp anyway just for the tax savings. And let me ask this. If xyz company has 2000 company drivers, if flush with cash, and also has 1000 owner ops because they have way more loads then their drivers can handle is that work still an integral part of their business ?

This is true, but if deadlines and do dates are not meet. The extra work can be re sub contracted out.

Noam Chomsky says almost the exact same thing: we don't have two competing parties, but rather one party - the big business party - with two factions which have differing ideas on how to best serve that master. He notes that when viewed this way, this big business party has even more control of Congress than the Communist party had over the Soviet Politburo.

This begs the question: Where does big business stand on this legislation? Assuming that the smallest big business is way bigger than the biggest trucking company, of course....

Most of those don't have much if anything to do with socialism or marxism though. Venezuela had its problems long before the socialists came along, and the Roman Empire died thousands of years before socialism was even invented.

We are most closely following the path of the western Roman Empire though. The state lost it's ability to administer itself while mega-rich estate owners who paid no taxes dismantled public monuments, hauled off the pieces and used them to decorate their own mansions.

They're not literally plundering monuments here yet, but they are paying little to no taxes while the roads crumble and the treasury empties. And what is our legislature doing? Tossing a little extra bread to the masses....

How about this: instead of Landstar paying drivers 65%, they instead pay out 100% minus a fee for access to their agent network and authority?

Maybe they'd have to sell off their trailers to not be considered a trucking company. Could be sold to a wholly owned subsidiary which leases them out to Landstar drivers for a nominal fee....

Could still be a lot of grey area for a motivated legal department to work with.

The price of just the insurance would be enough to kill that for many. Plus they now need a trailer if they don't already have one. Not everybody who leases a power unit onto a carrier would have the startup or operating capital to pull that off if for some reason lease operating was done away with. If the only two choices to drive a truck were W2 company driver and independent owner-op, there would be a lot of deals of used equipment and a lot of drivers looking for jobs I would guess lol.

Lease the trailers to the shipper or receiver and list loads as power only. That's how I'd try going around that obstacle, it'd be hell of a mess paperwork wise.
