Remember when swift and werner ran hoods ? Within a couple months there wasn't a straight bumper or fairing on any of them.

I fail to see how new kws are "nice trucks". I'd take a dd15 with a dt12 over a Cummins x15 with an Eaton any day - and Paccar can go diddle itself on the bow ball of the nearest PanamaMax cargo ship. Detroit Assurance beats the daylights out of bendix. The seats are indistinguishable and the build quality is the same. We can quibble about dash button layout, but the Cassacadia gauge display is more intuitive, and the steering wheel volume control adjusts by one instead of 3.

Give me a crapcadia over a kw anyway.

I'll also give you one guess as to why they're buying them, and its the same reason the Schneider bought a couple hundred T680s when they first came out.

 

My Volvo D13TC and 12 speed I-Shift is pretty #### good...and my 860 rides a lot better than our Crapcadias. It seems to have a lot less rattles and higher build quality than the Freightliners I've had.

 

Welcome to my world. My last truck was a Cascadia that I had been driving since I picked it up brand new. A month and half ago I had to clean it out because I went on medical leave to take care of my wife. At that time I racked up 189K miles on it. When I came back I was given a KW T680 with 218K miles on it and it was smoked in. The way it runs it feels like it’s going to rattle itself to pieces. We have hundreds brand spanking new T680s and Cascadias (including some brand new 6th generation Cascadia models that just started arriving from the dealers). No one wants the new T680s and for good reason. A lot of drivers are willing to wait for the Cascadias.
They’d rather be running than sitting at a shop getting every little thing fixed!

 

I can vouch for that. The last time I drove a Volvo was when I worked for Western Express. That truck felt well put together. In addition it never broke down.
