just wanted the low down on these and the other companies like them.iv'e been out of the game for about 3 years now.to my suprise i don't have any "recent" exp.so what has changed about these types of companies over the last 3 years anything?do either try to force a lease on ya or are they fine with company drivers? whats the avg of miles drivers are getting at these companies.i understand the whole it depends on you part but if one will run with no problems no bs noturning down loads and needing to be home every other week whats the norm these days?
im asking for input from drivers that work at these companies now.not he said she said talk.just up to date info.also things like drop and hook and do they keep ya preplanned so your not sitting for days waiting on loads.
also whats an avg bring home pay?just trying to fig out if it's worth me going back otr or not.if it's worth letting my wife quit her job of around 300 a week for me to go make better money or not?

click on the swift forum ton of good info, so you just left 3 years ago, i left in 2004, but will return in the spring of 2011, you mist the bad slow years 2008 2009 and 2010, remember if no one is buying anything, nothing is being ship, but no one understands that, tell your wift to keep working you stay home, the pay is still low will not go up till more drivers leave, still to many out there, which company to go to, that depends on where you live, swift has 38 terminals if your close to one good, more drop and hook, DO NOT even think about a lease, when i drove from 1993 to 2004 no one did lease's or ask to do one, there force drivers at CR England and other companys cause theres no money moving freight, you get a flat tire, you scratch the truck you pay for it, its a rented truck, wait 5 years then think about, then pay 20 grand cash for a used one, also go to the owner-operator section and read all of those posts, remember, pay your self .40 cents a mile, the truck is around .70 cents a mile, fuel is .30 per mile and tax's , also if they pay you say .95 cents plus fuel surcharge say .25 cents, thats 1.20 minus IRS income tax of 20 percent or so plus road tax, sales tax, your toast, stay company driver and with a company that has 40,000 trailers, marriage's don't last if you drive, stay home or you will be getting seperated a couple of years from now

if any of yens whats to buy a truck, go to the dealer, not the company and only after you have a HOME, (paid for), that comes first, i'm only thinking of going back after 6 years of being in a factory is because i'm bored and its slow, i don't need the money, not married no kids, the perfect life, do anything i want, house is paid for and i don't need the money, its just sitting at work, then sitting at home there both killing me inside, in the truck yes its boring to but there always something going on at the truck stop or place's you go, i'll have to find someone to cut the grass and shovel snow off the walk here in pittsburgh thow, wait till spring for a driving job always slow going thro the winter, plus all the newbe's (will get home sick) going towards the holidays and quit, come spring bingo, lots of opening, the only day you will get off is xmas, and your'll probably be late
