I notice that on a west coast 7 axle trailer. (I.e. murray loadmaster) whenever anything is loaded its nearly sitting over the center of the neck of the trailer.
1. Is this done so that there can be a decent amount of weight on the drive axles of the tractor?
2. Im pretty sure over a 16 tire trunnion your given 60,000lb.. therefore traillers like a loadmaster with a 60 ton capacity should always be at least 15,000 under the mechanical capacity of the tractor + trailer(jeep/well section)
Mexhanical capacity
20S+46D+60J+60T=186,000
Tare weight
20k tractor + 27,500trailer combined = 47,500
Max functional loaded weight
120,000load +47,500tare = 167,500max loaded weight.
3. With that said. If you load your load in sucha way where your load weight is sitting entirely on jeep and trailer with that create a negative effect on steering/drivability?
4. SEPARATELY If you were to load 100k onto this trailer and attempt to move your load with a single frame (5/16") truck with a light front end and/ or moderate capacity drive will it likely damage the truck if you maintain your weights within mechanical limitations on the truck. With a high rear end gear. 4:10

I am guessing that the trailer has a very long neck and that the excavator is sitting with its center of gravity close to the middle between the kingpin and the center of rear axles, but just a little ahead of this center. So more weight is given to the four front axles (drives and jeep).

You never had to worry about being over on any group except 6-7. This combination was the answer for moving D-9s in one piece way back when. Mine only had 20'6" of rear deck. They still use them out here but they are "cheating" with 24'+ deck and 10' wide trailers....

I will ad that I pulled my 9 axle once with my "hwy speced tractor" and it was very uncomfortable. Nothing better than a heavy set-up.
