I had a 780 for 6 yrs with my wife....very user friendly. The table was great, as were the fridge and microwave we put in. Used the upper bunk for storage. The volvo WILL kill u on maintance costs.
We sold that in April, and bought an 03 FLD with a rebuilt pre emissions series 60 DDEC 4 for $13k (friend was getting out of it). I have no maintaince or downtime to speak of with this truck, and i can fix most everything myself.
In 2 years,we'll have saved enough to either daycab/stretch this and add a 144.....or we'll sell it, get a daycab and add the 144
If money will not be an obstacle, go volvo. If you need writeoffs, go volvo. Mine was spected for heavy haul, but one year we spent close to $23000 on repairs. And no, that wasnt a tranny or motor.

I cannot say anything about the WS, however my better half and I just bought our 3rd Volvo. It's a 2019 Vnl 860, Globetrotter package. Has the D13 TCXE motor... We have been in it for just at 1 month, 21k miles on it so far. To this point we love it... Average Mpg over the 1st 20k is at 7.9, we run from MN to Ca and back so we hit alot of mountains. We like the ride (Spring front axle) and we are loving the economy of it, saved us nearly 2k in fuel over our previous (2013 Cummins) 780... If your an O/O this is a great option as a truck....

While I know it's a different model, this WS 4900 I run had water leaks from new, and the windows fogged up constantly. Once the water leaks got mostly fixed, the windows stopped fogging up.
I'm not convinced they've corrected the issue at the factory yet on the 4900's, as we've gotten three new ones since I got mine, and they all leak. Just food for thought.Oldironfan Thanks this. -

If our dollar wasn't so low and a new one wasn't almost 200k I'd have a new one on order.
Now that said... I bought a bare bones Columbia glider. Not quiet, not smooth, cabinets suck, BUT..cheapest ruck to repair on the road, hands down.
I wouldn't have a new Detroit engine. Still too many emission issues. Spend a day at a freightliner dealer in Knoxville couple months ago and it was a steady stream of Crapcadias on hooks coming in. And yes.. I HAD a dd15 a 2011. One year almost bankrupted me. In service and on the hook constantly. HUGE piece of ka....ka.... would NEVER recommend one. My .02c.
