Western was one of the finalists in my research of driving schools. We ultimately decided to go with Western Pacific instead. Heard later that one school is run by the wife, another by the husband. Don't know if that is true or not. We decided that we liked the "feel" of Western Pacific better, it was a little cheaper, and the commute was easier. The price and the commute really weren't the deciding factors, just the "feel" of the school.
Western Truck School was the original school until the two, Mr. and Mrs. Nord, got divorced. After that, Mrs. Nord took some of the staff and equipment and formed Western Pacific Truck School in 1977. Of the quality of the two schools Western Pacific Truck School is superior in their teaching and staff. I have witnessed both schools and their students at the DMV trying to obtain their CDL's. Western Pacific students seemed to pass at a higher rate than their counterparts at Western Truck School.
If I was looking at both schools, I would also take the time to visit the campuses and talk to students and staff members. Also, call the companies that are recruiting from the schools and ask them about the success rates of their students and remember there are several campuses from both to consider. Personally, I would choose Western Pacific over Western Truck any day of the week.
For what it's worth, I am NOT a graduate of either school, or any school for that matter.
