Yeah right, there is too much involved with the band and what's being used around it to even consider this as a valid issue.

A benefit of this would hopefully mean quality, clean amplifiers would be readily available to consumers. Unfortunately, there would still be people screwing them up.
Ultimately, in 2017, this is certainly not a priority in the White House. FCC or not, there are *much* bigger fish to fry.

No need for amplifiers with a decent antenna system and good receive.

I actually like the CB's low power aspect. I would hate to hear a lot of unrelated radio traffic from distant stations that is interfering with each other to the point 19 becomes a garbled mess. Low power helps eliminate that problem.

Apparently you didn't tune into 19 15-20 years ago.

It was a garbled mess. I miss those days.

The answer isn't exactly more power. The issue with CB is it was placed on a band where it should have never been put at to start with. CB requires a 9 foot antenna for proper use. Anything less is a compromise. And in such semis sit so tall they can't run a good antenna so they shorten them which hinders both TX and RX. Then they use an amp to compensate.

If they were to legalize amp use on 11 meters, the operators would require training as the hams do. The issue is you're going to still have some ####### that thinks he needs to get his jollies off by locking down the channel because he can. Hams are trained to only use the least amount of power to make the contact. Of course there are occasional hams who also act like ######## in which they deliberately run more power than they should, just because "I bought it and I'm gonna use it as I see fit."

I think a person should have a minimum understanding of electronics before the are legal with a linear amp or higher power transceiver. You could electrocute your dumb ###. I know ignorant is the correct term for the dumb ### in question. When you increase radiated power, other factors like ground come into play.
We were dealing with 1500 watts.
