I'm interested in this type of driving. Have CDL with Double, Triple, Hazmat, and T endorsments. Just wondering how much experience I need to be hired? And, if hired, I assume a few days of orientation with the company, then, how long out training with one of their experienced drivers? Thanks in advance for any info. Vegasm.

Minnesota Arizona Washington Nebraska New Mexico Oregon for example accept only their base tags. If you don't have those, you purchase their permits. Wyoming Montana same thing. Going into Canada in some instances you'll need permits etc.

1/2 hour orientation video your a driver aren't you. Your gonna jump right into this industry. Training depends on you and your trainer. I stayed with mine for a month because he was cool and I wanted too. He was willing to teach me all the different bumper styles and I still bent my first bumper on my own. ( wrecker didn't do what I told him doesn't matter who fault, I was in charge and 600$ out of my pay.)

What is the cost range of the permits? Where do I buy them? (Sorry, I have only driven with IRP's before that covered all 48 states)
-
Well they are all different. Arizona without any base plates is 60 for first truck and 15$ I think for any additional trucks. 1 AZ plate is 125$ and eliminates that first 60$ fee. Usually these permits are purchased at port of entry or can be purchased by phone or internet. You can get all other plates at any of the TM hubs. Ask your trainer about it. He will more than likely be able to explain this in more depth.

Rpcrown, I see your from NY. You might consider trying to get on with the union side of TM called Iron tigers. Union side has a few advantages that may weigh better if you could qualify based on you location. It's less pay but you don't pay for anything but your food. Taxi, airfare, motels, claims. Nothing but food and maybe your tools. Pay rate is good and get to pick your own loads based on seniority of course.
