OK, I'm just curious what toys am I missing out on? The truck parked next to me has 7 gadgets on his dash and/or windshield. I recognize the GPS, satellite radio receiver, and the dash cam. What could these other things be? His CB is overhead, so I'm not counting that in the 7. He's asleep or I would ask him. I'm really curious. Am I that far behind in technology?

Been at this a long time and you know what is on my dash? A cup of coffee. Gadgets are cool but eventually they will stress you out, keep it simple young one you'll be happier in the end

The only thing on mine is my CB and the company two-way.

Some guys run 2 GPS side by side. Why? Not real sure.

Another is probably a smartphone or small tablet in a cradle.

Then maybe some sort of dedicated "eLog" device.

Honestly I don't get those guys with a half dozen gadgets and other crap and 50 foot of wire running all over the dash area.

    One device is too much.

OK OK I get it, people like the distractions and not to actually drive the truck safely.

They keep adding more and more "infotainment" stuff to vehicles of every class, then the NTSA keeps wondering why there are more distracted driving crashes every year :biggrin_25523:

Texting [per se] is becoming less and less of a real concern as managing and using all the other stuff becomes as time consuming as any actual "texting activities".

Plugging my ipod or my phone into the radio is as far as I care to go with that.

I have a GPS, Sat radio, my clipboard and a box of kleenex on my dash.

7 gadgets strikes me as quite excessive.

Plugging my iPod or phone into the radio is as far I KNOW how to go with it.... I am technologically challenged. Or as my girlfriend says... I am a dinosaur.
