I'm just curious because I have an interview with them soon. I know they mostly drive Sterlings.

Hahaha.. It varies depending on year but most of what we have now are 2004 and up now but they're all stripped - this company is not known for luxurious trucks.
2007 and older are 455 Detroits according to the plate on the engine but they're cut back to god knows what. 7 speed transmission with no splitter, no jake, A/C on 02 and up, no cruise, don't pull very good for the most part, set at 62 but my GPS says more like 60-61 depending on the truck, but they do the job.
The 2008's are 10 speeds and have a nicer seat and are just better trucks. The 2009/2010 are the Freightliners which are the nicest trucks we've ever had. They also have 10 speeds and are the only trucks we have with cruise - they also have a company provided XM which was surprising. The newest trucks go on the longest line-haul runs - I run a mid range run so I have an 04 but I like it. I would get the next brand new one if I had bid a long run but I didn't.
If you do decide to work here don't worry about the trucks - they are what they are - stripped LTL company trucks. They get the job done and make you a lot of money if you stick around for a while..Jeff505 Thanks this. -
not sure of the year but we still have some 6 speeds at my barn. I only drove a 10 or 9 speed with splitter before, so it has been interesting getting used to these 7 and 6 speeds. There are some old school trucks around too- the 480- series. those are real interesting to drive.. With the shortage of equipment, I could imagine they are hesitant on retiring trucks. Over all they run ok and like jakebrake said- make you a lot of money. Even just starting out the money is pretty descent..

no jake brakes? i am doomed!

Are shifting the 7 speeds easy? At school, I had a hard time double clutching a 10 speed Mack. So i did the test in an automatic.

This company wastes a lot of money at times if you ask me.JustSonny Thanks this. -
What jake said about it varies truck to truck is correct. Mine shifts like a dream but some of the others tend to like to hang up in gears and be a pain to get back to neutral. And the new Freightshakers actually have fuel gauges to go with that 10 spd and cruise. Imagine that.
