if you have been driving for more then 6 months you probable picked up at least one bad habit. after 5 years of driving i got out of the habit of 3 point contact and it bit me in the arm. i do not want this to turn in to a bash post just true honest reflection from professionals who have or are harboring bad habits.

Um, what's 3 point contact? If you're talking about climbing up on the truck, and you misjudge the handle or step ( or it's slippery) and land on your keester, we've all been there. Trouble is now, someone probably got that on video. My bad habit, of the ones I can talk about, that is, was rolling stop signs ( so I wouldn't have to use the clutch)

A bad habit I used to have but, thankfully, managed to "train" myself out of, is not scanning my mirrors on a regular basis.
What changed that for me was getting off the road and driving tow truck for a couple of years: it's brain-dead simple to learn how to properly secure a vehicle on a flatbed or wheellift but, as you may already know, not every vehicle you get is going to be in one piece. That creates situations in which you sometimes have to get a little creative on how you go about securing your load and, sometimes, those loads aren't all that stable. You soon develop a slightly paranoid attitude about checking on your load every now and again by using your mirrors to see if that car is still on the back of the truck. It didn't take long before scanning my mirrors every few seconds became so second-nature that I was still doing it when I went back to driving class 8 vehicles.texasbbqbest and Lepton1 Thank this. -
