    What colour is a polar bear's skin?
    Black
    Polar bears may look white, but their fur is translucent and only appears white because it reflects visible light. Beneath their thick coats, polar bears have black skin. The loss of sea ice habitat resulting from climate change is the biggest threat to these incredible creatures.

    I lived in Alaska for decades traveled through polar bear country quite a few times. They are pretty remarkable creatures, but you absolutely must respect them. They are the only bear that will actively seek out and hunt down a human being. And they are stubborn and strong, and if they think they can get you, they will persist until they do. They have the strongest survival instinct of the entire bear family.
