It seems if companies have really started scaling back on the new recruits. Anyone know of reputable places taking newbies?

Most are still taking new hires/students.

They've just pushed the orientation, training, and hire dates way way back.

If you're willing to wait it out. You can get into a slot in Febuary or March.

Keep knocking though. Someone will find a slot for you.

Reputable , no ? Think about why they are hiring . It's surely not because business is picking up . It's because drivers keep quitting .

Swift, is still taking in newbies. At a lot of terminals, if not all, are not taking experienced drivers.

I agree to that. I wrote to my, Dm, FM, And TM and told them If I get another month of 4500 miles with only 2 days off for the entire month. They will be receiving a 2week notice from me.

That's the dilemma isn't it? It seems like the experienced drivers are finding it harder and harder when companies have a plethora of new, less experienced drivers willing to suffer the hardships of low pay, short miles and all the other excrement they dump. Eventually becoming experienced, if they persevere, and invariably become part of the problem rather than the solution... It is classic supply and demand; union vs. independent; have's vs. the have not's?!

sorry for not making myself more clear. For the month of December. i only got 4,500 miles for the entire month. Early this week I sent a e-mail to my Dm which, was forwarded to, Fm, and Tm (cause i didn't have their e-mail addresses.) I told them through the e-mail that 4500 miles with only 2 days off for an entire month was ridiculous. If i get another month of 4500 miles (for January) I'm going to give them a 2 week notice in (February).

I'm surprised you didn't hear back from them.

Last time I told a company that, they suggested I start looking.

I cleaned my truck out the next day.

They told me that freight is slow please bear with us during this time. frieght should pick up around March, April. They also said that they would try and get me more miles. (so far it looks like I'm getting the same miles I did last month. atleast I had roughly 5 days of home time this month so far.
