Hey there Adam -
Congratulations! You have the right attitude abou this, and that is a good thing. Although there is some truth out there when reading posts, like I am sure you have read, a lot of the negative posts are by those who are disgruntled. Not to say that their experience was not a good one, but like you say, it is all about attitude. And generally when you approach ANYTHING in life with a good attitude, the end result will be much better.
Good for you, and good luck on the 13th. Stay in touch and let us know how it goes. We're all pulling for you!

Been with werner for 3 years, they have shown me no reason to leave. I am on the 48state dedicated Anheuser Busch account. Your 1st few months you are going to want to quit, but hang in there, it does get better. Best thing to do is get on a dedicated account. I love this account, heavy beer loads, but i am also planned out for a week so i know where i am always going.
Baack and luvtheroad Thank this. -
Sounds like a good deal what were the first few months like that made you mad??
-
Anyway, my post wasn't about Werner in particular, just that you do research for a REASON. I know you liked Werner and I would place that as a point to their credit... well you and IROCuBabe are the 2 out of 1000's. But what this tells me is that Scoot is right about attitude affecting things and you guys would almost literally be ok anywhere, and I maintain that you would have been even happier at a place with a good reputation on this site and there are several. -
Werner affected your life not at all... the posts did. and i seem to remember people laughing at me when i said to do your homework and ask questions. Yes I do like Werner. They provided me with a paycheck. I gave them an honest days work and they gave me a days pay. They have 7-8,000 trucks probably some parked up against the fence right now. They have more than 2 people who are content with them. I would imagine in the thousands. And I know I'll get an arguement over that figure. I talk to people on here and in life who have been with them for 15-20 years and havent a thought of leaving. You guys are right, its attitude. Attitude and also communication. When you see someone on here, who is whining about miles, pay, meany dispatcher, truck is dirty, wah wah wah. Usually you are getting one side of the story and it might not even be all of the story. When you ask if they talked to someone about their problems, you either dont get a reply or some BS about no one will talk to them. Thats BS too.
No I wouldnt be OK almost anywhere. I have to be where they at least act like I am doing something to the good of the corporation. I have worked for a zillion companies and I couldnt have been happier there. I just happened to work for the wicked witch of the west, so I left. Nothing to do with the company.
Another thing you should think about is that Werner is over 50 years old, bet ya didnt know that?!?! C. L. Werner started out with one truck. He grew the company, it's the #4 truckload carrier on the north American continent. They are in Mexico, Canada and China. Not bad for a good ole boy with one truck.
You really need to work for a company at least for awhile so you can see what we are all talking about. As a driver or in the office, somewhere so you get a taste of it.ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
I can't say I would like it or not. I just research to find out the likelihood of my liking it, and the research says look elsewhere.
-
thats fine, its not a fit for you, but without having any experience there how can you really tell someone about the company?
and when i said you should work for someone, i dont care who it is. you should work for a carrier so you have a better understanding. just reading posts doesnt give you the experience or the feel of really working at a carrier. just my opinion of course, and you know i am always right LOLScooterDawg Thanks this. -
I agree with Luv...If I had based my decision solely upon what I read in the forums, to be honest I probably wouldn't have chosen to enter the trucking career. I'm sure there's lots of unhappy drivers with Werner, but I'm also sure there are just as many if not more that are happy with the company. Trouble is, seems the majority of people who write in the forums do so only to complain about a company. The thousands of happy and content drivers don't think to go online and tell their story, so all we ever hear is the negative. Ultimately what I read didn't make my decision for me, I decided to give them (Werner) an honest try and go in with a positive attitude and a good work ethic. That's the only way in my mind to know the truth about the company.
ScooterDawg, cpassey and Hopetobeontheroadsoon Thank this. -
