With all the negativity around trucking, I'm curious to know what you like about driving within Canada?
For me it's getting away from the cities and meeting the nice rural folk in Ontario and Quebec. Met a lot of great people over the years. I remember driving out west years back and still seeing sunlight at 11pm was pretty cool.
What do you like about trucking in Canada?

Our Hours of Service rules are better and cross-border shipments can be a hassle.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing the lay of the land and the economic activity of each area. - Not just here but in the States as well.
When you travel it exposes you to lots of things that widen your perspective/thoughts.Canadianhauler21, MACK E-6, broke down plumber and 1 other person Thank this. -
Now that I'm operating my full Authority the Ontario to Quebec lanes are a nice scenic view after running OH to KY Lanes Napanee, ON's Flying J usually has spot even after 9 pm which is a better situation oppose to running state side plus there ample parking. A Reasonable lane that pays.

Back when crossing the border was a 15 minute ordeal at worst, I used to like getting up a bit further north; places like Sudbury and Timmins, ON, Royn-Noranda, Montreal, Cite Quebec, Saguenay, La Tuque and Sherbrooke QC, the Ottawa region, etc. Never couldn't find a place to park for the night once I was 20+ miles outside of Toronto or Montreal, either. Food on the road was better, especially in Quebec. Roads were better maintained. Even the 4-wheelers were better.....

Pre-Covid exploring the US and BC were fun, when you could still somewhat get parking. After Covid, nothing really. LCV was the biggest disappointment looking back, not enough money over single to deal with the BS and even worse lack of parking. Pin to Pin was ok, until trailers not being ready was the norm. Gravel is ok, but this construction and residential traffic, is enough to drive you off a cliff.

Running provincial with no E-Logs in Alberta. That’s where the money is. It’s an entirely different rule set than Canadian Federal.

I’m sorry but if im doing LCV , pulling two 53’ trailers i better be getting paid a lot more then a driver pulling 1 . from the ads i see that’s not always the case so why bother doing itCanadianhauler21, Ind0792, BigHossVolvo and 1 other person Thank this. -

FWIW, here in NY, you can only drive those LCV's on the NY State Thruway, with breakdown required either at the breakdown lot (at most exits), or at your company lot, if it has a transit permit to drive the LCV's just on the route to it (always less than 1 mile from the road). You also need a special permit, which is only given to drivers with a minimum 5 years SAFE driving, too.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
Exactly double the work load double the pay rate . I’ve always heard the term job killers when drivers see LCV’s because it’s one less truck on the road pulling that second trailerCanadianhauler21, BigHossVolvo and NorthEastTrucker Thank this.
